EP110 - Magic Barclay - Dealing with a Narcissist
Tuesday Jul 18, 2023
Tuesday Jul 18, 2023
This week's guest survived a rough childhood, torn between a narcissist of a father and an unfeeling and emotionally neglectful mother, she learned that she was the only one she could depend on and always felt like 'the black sheep' and found it hard to trust anyone. In her teens, her lack of control led to anorexia and binge eating disorders. her weight was about all she could truly take charge of and by the age of 17, she had also become a binge drinker- leading to becoming an alcoholic by age 21.After transferring this lack of self-relationship to relationships with others, She found herself at the end of a string of emotionally vacuous and harmful relationships- culminating in a marriage to a narcissist and her self-esteem issues came back and again via her weight- she protected herself by becoming morbidly obese. That was the only way her body could physically be off-limits to an abusive husband (or so she thought). After 14 years of being told she was ugly, worth nothing, a horrible mother, and much more- she left! packing the kids, dogs, and cats into the car, loading a truck, and leaving town. The next 4 years saw a drawn-out legal battle which saw her lose everything except her babies. And she had to start again but the toll of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Adverse Childhood Relationship Experiences (ACREs) and her adult relationship disasters (including the one with herself), years of stress, and physical trauma to her body culminated in multiple conditions that threatened to end her life. She threw herself into study, learning about the systems of the body and how they each worked in harmony with each other, she sought help with her trauma and became truly well, truly loved
She continued her study continuing to become stronger, more able to handle anything in life, and free from the past both physically and emotionally. She is now an instructor of PNEI of Trauma, the lead practitioner at Wholistic Natural Health Australia, and the host of her own podcast A Magical Life- health, wealth, and weight loss"

EP109 - Asher Cloren - Life Rocks - Connecting Children to Nature
Tuesday Jul 11, 2023
Tuesday Jul 11, 2023
This week’s guest is Asher Cloran the director of The Life Rocks Foundation, an interactive earth science platform designed to help children lead healthier, happier and productive lives through becoming connected to nature. Asher is an expert in human health, development and education and provides quality information to parents and teachers to help improve parenting, teaching and childhood development.
Asher’s most powerful experiences as a child were all involving Nature. Experiencing the contrast between a public education devoid of Nature connection, and then a Steiner education rich in Nature connection – left him with strong impressions of what is most important for learning and life.
On this quest, he has studied holistic health, human development, kinesiology, education, business, media, and natural sciences.
If all that wasn’t enough Asher is also an Integrated Movement Specialist level 2 and Holistic Lifestyle Coach level 2 with the CHEK institute. And has recently published 2 books: Connecting Children to Nature: the Essential guide for parents and teachers & The Soil Big Book, an illustrated book on soil science.
However the more Asher learnt, the more he discovered the challenges and damages that modern life is having on current and future generations – and he became passionate about helping to overcome them.
After meeting geologist John Rowntree in 2016, he was invited to join the Life Rocks team. John, seeing his passion for earth science education, quickly made him CEO. Since then, The team and I have evolved Life Rocks into a non-for-profit foundation always working hard to bring joy, education and nature to children, parents and teachers through fun, scientific and interactive experiences, media, books, games and workshops.
Asher also records The Life Rocks Podcast where he interviews other passionate leaders in childhood education and development and provides a platform for those interested in helping future and current generations thrive.

EP107 - Lisa Espinoza - How Do You Deal With Losing a Child
Tuesday Jun 27, 2023
Tuesday Jun 27, 2023
This week’s guest Lisa Espinoza is a writer and speaker who is passionate about coming alongside others who desire to take steps toward their most fulfilling, abundant life.
She is an expert in grief and loss and is able to help others move through places of loss in a way that honors the loved ones they have lost as well as their own lives.
On December 15, 2018, my youngest son, Chandler, was hit by a car while riding his bike to work. He sustained multiple broken bones, a severed thoracic spine, and severe traumatic brain injury. . . .
On January 1, 2019, she lost her 25-year-old son Chandler.
Her pain was deep, excruciating, disorienting, and relentless. It was also an opportunity to do things differently.
There's no way around it. Grief is a heavy, often seemingly unbearable, weight to carry. A weight that you earned because you loved. She considers herself a trusted voice — here to support and equip people to move through the grief process in a way that honors you and their loved ones.

EP105 - Laura Reardon - Responding To Your Kids’ Big Emotions
Tuesday Jun 13, 2023
Tuesday Jun 13, 2023
This week’s guest Laura Reardon teaches parents about how to respond to their kids' big emotions and challenging behaviors in a way that creates more peace rather than more conflict in their homes. She was graced with 2 children, a boy, and a girl, although not a single parent...and yet…In their growing-up years, she felt frustrated, worried, and unsure how to respond to their big emotions and challenging behaviors – one would lash out while the other would shut down.
She tried many things like counting to 3, consequences, rewards, and ignoring unwanted behaviors but none of it helped. And in the end, she found herself yelling…and worrying… and felt alone in this whole parenting thing.Motivated to grow into her best self and help her kids grow into their best selves, she earned a certification as a Child Behaviour Specialist from The Early Years, completed Parent Coach training from Happily Family, and completed Emotion Coach training with the Gottman Institute in addition to her degree in psychology from Northeastern University. And based on that training she created a 3-step plan for how to respond to the big emotions and challenging behaviors in her home in a way that supported her in managing her own emotions and behavior…and supported her kids’ in managing theirs.
